This program organized by Jeffrey Mutekisa to provide financial services to rural communities while keeping money in communities. Women Banks groups provide useful lump sums to assist rural villagers in cases of unexpected health event, to pay shcool fees, or to invest in commercial activities, allow for flexible loans at any time during the cycle, and are group-owned and operated. Groups can be 10-20 people self-selected based on desirable characteristics like punctuality, work ethic, and honesty. Members save money each week which becomes loan capital for other members. They are led by a chairperson and regulated by a unanimously agreed upon Constitution.
