PIGGERY KATONGA

Piggery project startet up by Katonga Hope Resouce Center in July 2019. Jeffrey Mutekisa is project leader. Pro-Con granted a micro loan on 1,200 USD to get started. Jeffrey and the project team build a stall for the pigs and a small house for someone to feed and take care of them.
The goal is to build a network with 200 small farmers by giving away one piglet to each who do the same. By now its 75 members and when they have reached the goal, they will apply for support from the Government and bigger investors that they can expand.

The first piglets were just two. But this is normal for the first delivery.

This is Simon, one of the young farmers in this network, who got a piglet.

Jeffrey and the project team did voluntary work to set up the house and the piggery stall. Jeff got good ideas on internet how to make better stall for the pigs.

NKOZI UNIVERSITY AGRICULTURE DEPT HAD A SEMINAR TO TEACH HOW TO PRODUCE CHEAPER FOOD FOR ANIMALS

They wanted to continue as partners with Katonga Hope Resource Centers model farm! Their localation is just 30 minutes from the center.
